What we can help with

  • Corrections. If something we published is wrong, tell us — ideally with the source. We fix it and date the change.
  • Right of reply. If we wrote about your company and you disagree with our reading of a public record, send your response and we will publish it.
  • Suggestions. If there's a question you couldn't find answered anywhere, tell us. It's how we choose what to write next.
  • Press and research. Questions about our sources or methodology are welcome.

What we cannot help with

We cannot advise you on your individual policy, claim, appeal or dispute. We are not licensed insurance agents, adjusters, or attorneys, and giving personalised advice would be both outside our expertise and, in many states, regulated activity.

If you need help with a specific situation, these are free or low-cost places to start:

  • Your state Department of Insurance. Every state has one. They answer consumer questions and accept formal complaints at no charge.
  • A licensed public adjuster for property claims of significant value.
  • An attorney licensed in your state if you believe a claim has been handled in bad faith.
  • Your state's legal aid organisation if cost is a barrier.

Privacy

Anything you email us is used only to answer you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share your message or your address with anyone. See our privacy policy.
