About ClaimWise

Last updated: July 23, 2026

Insurance is one of the few things people buy without reading, pay for without understanding, and only truly examine at the worst possible moment — after something has already gone wrong.

That is not an accident of consumer laziness. Policies are legal instruments drafted by lawyers for other lawyers. Denial letters cite clauses by name without explaining them. And almost every website that offers to help is, underneath, trying to sell a policy or sell your contact details to someone who will.

What we do

ClaimWise explains how insurance actually works — in plain English, with sources, and without a sales funnel underneath. Car insurance, home insurance, and above all what happens when a claim goes wrong.

We are especially interested in the part almost nobody covers: the moment after the purchase. What a denial letter means. What an appeal involves. What your state regulator can do for you at no cost. What your deadlines are.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell insurance or connect you with anyone who does.
  • We don't run quote forms or collect your contact information.
  • We don't earn commissions on anything you buy.
  • We don't publish invented stories or testimonials.
  • We don't tell you what to do about your specific situation — we explain the process so you can decide.

How this is paid for

Display advertising, and nothing else. The site is free to read, requires no account, and always will. Advertisements are clearly marked and have no bearing on what we write. If that ever changes, we will say so on this page before it does.

Who writes this

ClaimWise is an independent publication. We are not licensed insurance agents, adjusters, or attorneys, and we say so on every page — because knowing what someone is not qualified to tell you is as important as what they are.

Our standards for sourcing, corrections and right of reply are published in full on our How We Work page.

Getting it wrong

We will make mistakes. When we do, we correct them in public with the date attached. If you spot one, tell us.
